Our favourite interior design trends for Autumn/Winter 2024
As the weather turns cooler and the leaves start to change, we inevitably spend more time in our homes as we settle into ‘cosy season’. Interior trends for Autumn/Winter 24 are centred around comfort, bold aesthetics, and a connection with nature, while embracing both contemporary and nostalgic elements.
We’ve hand-picked some of our favourite design trends as inspiration for how to make your home a cosy sanctuary this season.
1. Spicy Autumnal Hues
Expect to see deep, earthy tones like burnt sienna, terracotta, and rust making a strong appearance, as well as deep olive greens. These warm shades are often paired with natural materials like wood, jute, and rattan to create cosy spaces that reflect the Autumn season. Colour drenching, aka matching your ceiling to your walls, is another sure way to enhance the cosy feel to a room.
Soft, rounded furniture continues to trend, offering a welcoming contrast to the colder weather’s harshness. Curved coffee tables, arched mirrors and doorways, and gentle organic shapes help to create a relaxing, calm atmosphere. The fusion of Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian cosiness, known as “Japandi,” continues to be a popular aesthetic.
Round cushion, wavy mirror, curved vases, all H&M Home
There’s a revival of classic patterns this season, from wallpaper to upholstery, but with recoloured versions of traditional motifs in warmer, bolder colours. This trend blends nostalgia with modern sensibility, creating spaces that feel rich, yet fresh.
Think luxurious bathrooms with jewel tones, opulent materials like veined marble, and ornate detailing such as heavily patterned wallpaper, tiles and statement basins. This trend creates a glamorous, boutique-hotel feel, perfect for small spaces like powder rooms.
For a more restrained aesthetic, “quiet luxury” focuses on high-quality materials and craftsmanship. Soft, neutral palettes including off-whites and taupes, combined with organic textures such as bouclé and natural stone, keep the space serene yet sophisticated, with room to add pops of colour through accessories.
Natural materials and indoor plants remain popular this season, used to bring a sense of calm and balance during the harsher weather. Incorporating greenery contrasts beautifully with warm autumnal tones.
